In the music world, you could certainly consider both Jay-Z and Beyonce to be royalty. After all, Beyonce is called Queen Bey by some of her dedicated fans. That would mean that their children are also music royalty. The couple does indeed have three children together, including their first born named Blue Ivy Carter. Now, it’s expected by many that the youngster will likely follow in the footsteps of her famous parents.
Beyonce is a former member of Destiny’s Child that went solo after the group split up in the early 2000s. Since then, she’s had a massively successful career that’s made her one of the best selling artists of all-time. Her father is also considered one of the best rappers ever thanks to hits like “Empire State of Mind”, “99 Problems” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”. After performing a song together in the early 2000s with “Crazy in Love”, the two started a relationship.
Beyonce and Jay-Z then got married with a private ceremony in 2008. Sadly, when trying to get pregnant in 2010, Beyonce had a miscarriage. It was a difficult time for the family, but good news came the following year. They found out that they were pregnant. On January 7, 2012, Jay-Z and Beyonce welcomed their first child with the birth of Blue Ivy Carter in New York City. The pregnancy was massive news in the music industry, and millions were waiting to see the future star.
With her parents being A-list superstars, Blue Ivy has had to be on the road quite often at her young age. This means having to go from city to city while her parents are on tour. While it would be stressful for a lot of children, Blue Ivy has been a trooper about it. “She’s my road dog,” Beyonce said. “She’s my homey, my best friend.” That doesn’t mean that Beyonce doesn’t want her daughter to have a normal childhood. “School visits and lemonade stands and all that stuff. It’s very important,” Beyonce said.
In 2018, Blue Ivy got to welcome a pair of younger siblings to the family. Beyonce had twins with a daughter named Rumi and a son named Sir. Even with the music and business careers, Blue Ivy and her siblings have remained a primary focus for their mother. “It might seem like her career would take up all her time, but it’s quite the opposite,” one source said. “Her career is always second and her kids are her first priority.”
“She’s busy making a schedule and taking care of her kids,” the source continued. “She makes sure they have scheduled activities and tutoring. She loves being a mom and wants to be around as much as possible.”
Beyonce tended to live a very private life following the birth of her daughter, but in 2013 opened up about becoming a mother to Blue ivy. “I just adore being a mother, hearing her say ‘Mama’ and call me when she needs something, it makes me feel like I have a real purpose here,” Beyonce said. “I enjoy all the things people warned me would be tough to handle…I want to have my own passions and do things that challenge me. I believe showing my daughter that side of me makes me a better mother.”
Jay-Z and Beyonce are certainly active in their parenting of Blue Ivy, and it even led to an interesting reunion. Early on in her solo career, Beyonce starred alongside Mike Myers in “Austin Powers in Goldmember”. The cast also included Fred Savage, who most know from his days on “The Wonder Years”.
Savage has children that go to school in Los Angeles, and one of them happens to be classmates with Blue Ivy. Beyonce goes to school functions for her daughter, Savage said. “It took me a while to go up to her ‘cause it’s like, ‘What do I talk to Beyonce about?’ So it took me a minute, and at one point I was like, ‘Hey, I’m Fred, we did this movie together.’ And she goes, ‘I know who you are. I saw you at the beginning of the year, I just didn’t want to come up and say hi and bother you.’”
Blue Ivy has already gotten her start in the music business, interestingly enough. In 2019, Beyonce had starred as a voice actor in the remake of “The Lion King”. This also meant that Beyonce contributed to the soundtrack for the film, which included the song “Brown Skin Girl”. Blue Ivy sang the opening line of the song, giving her a song credit as one of the youngest people to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100 as the song entered the top 80.
“Being a mother, my family is my biggest priority,” Beyonce said. “It’s not many films that the parents can come and feel the way I feel about ‘The Lion King’, and feel that and pass that legacy onto their kids,” adding that “I am still a bit in shock that I’m a part of this film, because I grew up loving ‘The Lion King’. It’s so much nostalgia for me, and it’s the first Disney movie that brought me to tears.”
Many believe that it’s the first of just many appearances on the charts to come for Blue Ivy. It’s clear that talent runs in the family, and there’s already going to be an established audience waiting for her if she wants to pursue the musical world. “Blue loves singing, dancing and performing,” said a source close to the family. “She is a natural.”
