On the bike paths in Cohoes, a man had shot another man, leading to his death. The suspect is 23 years old Thomas Silvienski of Watervliet. He has been in Albany since the shooting to await his trial, and there’s now a verdict.

Silvienski was found guilty of second-degree murder. When sentenced, he could face up to life in prison. The minimum sentence for second-degree murder in New York is 25 years. The defense is still claiming Silvienski is innocent, however.

The defense came up against a major roadblock when the prosecution and investigators were able to find hard evidence. Silvienski’s cell phone data led him to the scene of the crime at the exact time it was reported. There was also a camera on the bike path that showed him being there, leading to the guilty verdict.
