According to the New York State Brewers Association, craft beer is a big deal. In this state, the industry accounts for 13,000 full-time jobs and an economic impact of $3.4 billion; 1.2 million barrels of craft beer are produced annually in New York. In March of 2019, New Yorkers came together to appreciate the industry that’s been such an economic and cultural boon.
More specifically, they celebrated the sixth annual New York Craft Brewers Festival at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. Guests were treated to unlimited samples of beer (more than 75 breweries were represented at the event) and food. One of the more notable offerings was Deep Ascent Ale, made from yeast recovered from the shipwreck of the SS Oregon, which sank more than a century ago.
